This was the second morning after the last full moon.

OK, so my sense of humor is obtuse and completely desiccated. This is, in fact, two hemlocks (Tsuga canadensis) and a red spruce (Picea rubens) on the Nature Conservancy property in Canaan Valley.
75mm SMC Pentax-A 645, Nikon 800e, Lr5, Ps CS6. Wanna know about my tripod? No? Good.
Fagus grandifolia with a cherry on the side. Prunus serotina that is.

If I could play music when someone looked at an image I would play Poncho Sanchez’s Last Exit for this black cherry. I swear it is dancing to it! Prunus serotina in Canaan NWR. Image refined a bit on 5/5.

Fagus grandifolia in Canaan Valley NWR. Cold and windy. This was Saturday with a weather report of partly sunny. The weather report for Sunday was WINDY… so I came come. Way too cold and windy on Dolly Sods Saturday (high in the forties) where there is still little sign of life. Except for the woodcock! Heard my first one of the year (Bleeet!) Friday night, but no mating dance/flight to be seen. Shadbush are blooming in Canaan Valley, and in profusion at lower elevations. I was surprised at how warm it was here in Flatland when I got home, a good 30 degree differential.
