Tupelo Tapestry

Nyssa sylvatica near White Post, Virginia. These trees are amazing. They are big… the biggest tupelos I have seen. And healthy… look at the branch structure on them! I want to learn more about their history. Somebody has been looking out for these trees. How else would they have been spared during the construction of the buildings behind them and landscaping and farming around them? Not only were they spared, but they thrive.

Follow this link to see these trees in late summer foliage:             https://markmusephotographs.com/2013/09/24/magnificent-tupelos/

Magnificent Tupelos

Nyssa sylvatica, the source of tupelo honey. These magnificent tupelos are the largest I have seen. They are massive. You can’t see the bottom section of the trunks here, but you can see how they tower over the buildings behind them. This is not an illusion. Indeed, they positively dominate the huge open landscape of this dairy operation in Clarke County Virginia.
