A few youngsters left in a large swath of clear cut forest. Technically not a clear cut I guess, because of the few tokens like these left behind. The ferns and sedges are loving it. I do like the dance they are doing.

Kalmia latifolia in full bloom at lower elevations of the Allegheny Front. Grant County, I think.

Kalmia latifolia, full of flower buds. This was at dusk, May 30, 2015, on Dolly Sods.

I’m not sure this one is done but it will have to do for now. I have been busy setting up a new computer, loading and wrestling with software security, rethinking image storage, display calibration not working, etc. Really tedious stuff. Almost there.
28-90mm Leica Vario-Elmarit R, Sony A7r, Lr 5, Ps CS6.
Celtis occidentalis, on the farm across the road from my property. All the large trees here are hackberry. These trees are old, and my guess is this is a virgin stand. This one acre patch contains is a steep ravine and a large cave entrance making it completely unsuitable for tillage. And hackberries, while tough trees, have little value as lumber, firewood, or fence posts, so there would have been no reason to clear this little patch.
45mm Zeiss Planar G, Sony A7r, Lr 5, Ps CS6.
Cacapon is a Native American word meaning medicine waters. Just being there is good medicine for me.
25mm Zeiss Distagon ZF.2, Sony A7r, Lr 5, Ps CS6.
Latterell Farm, late winter 2015 – Jefferson County West Virginia. Winter really stuck around this year. Climate change? Who knows.
