Yellow Birch with Rhododendrons

From a recent trip up the West Fork of the Greenbriar River valley, a beautiful but not dramatic place. This is a yellow birch, Betula alleghaniensis, surrounded by rhododendrons, R. maximum, in full bloom. The composition is of the masses of textures, more apparent in a large print.

Roaring Plains Wilderness

…somewhere just outside of the roar. This is on the mountainside a little over the edge from the open flat top land that the weather roars through. I think this is probably where the snow really piles up after being blown off the top. Yellow birch, Betula alleghaniensis, and Rhododendron maximum. I don’t imagine this will gather even the minimal interest that my postings usually get, but it appeals to me.
