Flame Azalea at the Crossroads

Rhododendron calendulaceum, another of our native azaleas. This one is on my property. All of our native eastern US azaleas are deciduous. Most if not all Exbury hybrids start right here. It is quite a sight to behold one in bloom while walking through the woods. They are visible from a distance, but unless you are looking for them it takes a while and some walking before you understand what all this orange in the forest is about.
