American Linden
Tilia americana, also know as basswood or bee tree, in Canaan Valley NWR. In June these trees will be covered with small inconspicuous green flowers that will attract lots of bees. You are much more likely to notice the humming of thousands of bees overhead than the flowers themselves. I wonder what linden honey is like? The bees sure like the flowers.
There is a huge and ancient weeping linden on the grounds of The Jackson Rose, a bread and breakfast in Harpers Ferry.
