This is the suspension footbridge over the Dry Fork into Otter Creek Wilderness. It is quite an engineering feat to have withstood years of spring thaw floods that are typical in this mountainous region. The heavy logging of virgin spruce forests in the past depleted the natural ability of the land to store and release water gradually. A quick look at some of the massive gouged-out stream beds in the area, streams that have a mere trickle flowing in summer, tell the tale of former abuses.
