Mount Storm Power Plant – May 2010

Providing electricity . . .   to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware . . .   and even some to the source of the coal and location of the plant, West Virginia.

Mount Storm gets its name from the weather that comes with its high altitude location about a mile from the Allegheny Front. It is also about ten air miles north of Dolly Sods Wilderness, and about the same distance from Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. It is possible to see these stacks from some locations in Dolly Sods, though these days one has to look through a haze of windmill blades.
